Purdue Polytechnic Varsity Techies fell to Bethesda Christian Varsity Patriots 7-5 on Wednesday at Bethesda Christian School. Purdue Polytechnic Varsity Techies got on the board in the second inning after Bailey drew a walk, scoring one run. Purdue Polytechnic Varsity Techies committed an error, which helped Bethesda Christian Varsity Patriots tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. In the top of the third, Purdue Polytechnic Varsity Techies broke up the tie when Smith drew a walk, scoring one run. Then a ground out by Harriman followed to extend the lead to 3-1. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Bethesda Christian Varsity Patriots went back into the lead after Shipman doubled down the right field line, Knisley grounded out, and , each scoring one run. Bethesda Christian Varsity Patriots dropped a third strike, which helped Purdue Polytechnic Varsity Techies tie the game at four in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, Bethesda Christian Varsity Patriots broke up the tie when Gibson singled, scoring one run. Then a passed ball followed to extend the lead to 6-4. Gibson earned the win for Bethesda Christian Varsity Patriots. The pitcher surrendered zero hits and one run over two innings, striking out five and walking four. Harriman took the loss for Purdue Polytechnic Varsity Techies. The southpaw went three innings, giving up six runs (four earned) on four hits, striking out five and walking one. Briceno Vega started on the hill for Purdue Polytechnic Varsity Techies. The hurler gave up three hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out seven and walking none. Smith led Purdue Polytechnic Varsity Techies with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day.
