Game 2 of the Girls Basketball season brings more of the same as the Techies defeat Irvington Prep Academy by the score of 73-20. Still short handed as a team the Techies are continuing to score at a very high rate.
The game got off to a pretty slow start. Purdue Poly consistently got great looks at the basket but nothing seemed to be falling. The 1st quarter ended with them only leading Irvington 9-3. “We knew at some point those shots would start falling. We were getting good shots, they just were not going in.” Assistant Coach Ryan Broadstreet told us after the game. He was certainly right. The second quarter brought a deluge of points for the Techies and by halftime the score was 38-7 and it was time to empty the bench.
Key players for Purdue were Abigail Mason with 13 points 9 assists and 9 rebounds, To’Niyah Langston with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Our game two MVP goes to Carissa Johnson that scored 27 points 10 steals 4 assists and 4 rebounds. She was all over the floor and hopefully this is what we will see from the Senior for the remainder of the year.
