In their first regular season game of 20/21 season the Techie Girls Basketball team put in a dominating performance over Christel House Academy. From start to finish the Techies were in control and able to spread the minutes around. While it was a pretty small bench, some of the backups like Freshman Miracle Ricketts and Sophomore Mersadies Davis were able to get quality minutes in a varsity game.
The exciting part of the game was the debut of the three transfers that have entered the starting lineup for Purdue. Senior Carissa Johnson dropped 17 points and 10 rebounds in her first game as a Techie since 2017. Junior To’Niyah Langston finished with 14 points 9 steals and 9 rebounds in her Techie debut. Sophomore Abigail Mason, a Decatur Central transfer, put up 24 points and 12 steals to lead the Techies and be awarded this seasons first Player of the Game award. “Abigail just understands the game. She anticipates well and always finds her way into the opponents passing lane.” says an exuberant Coach Crawford after the game. “We have the tools this year to really turn some heads. We have worked hard to get to this point and this team, this effort will become the new normal for Techie Girls Basketball.”
